Built around observable animal communication.
FaunaVera is an educational tool built on audio and visual behavioral cues that have been studied, documented and taught for decades. The goal is to make those signals easier to notice and understand.
scientific studies informing 720 communication signals across 7 species.
Each species has their own ethogram, built from that species’ own literature, so an analysis connects what appears in a video with the right behavioral knowledge for the animal in front of the camera, from dogs and cats to donkeys, ducks and llamas.
Behavior is a pattern, not a single cue.
A tail movement, vocalization, yawn, ear position or change in posture can mean different things in different situations. FaunaVera considers combinations of available signals, the surrounding scene, profile information and any context or question the user provides.
Multi-agent AI.
Rather than asking one model to do everything, FaunaVera keeps seeing separate from deciding. Here is what happens to every clip you upload.
- 01 · Identify
Confirm who is there.
Before anything is read, FaunaVera identifies the animals in the clip, their species and breed, and who to focus on. Your profile is a hint; the video decides.

Watch and listen first.
Observation agents go through the clip frame by frame and record only what is actually there.

Check the science.
Each observation is matched against the species’ own ethogram. For an animal we have no ethogram for yet, FaunaVera researches the published science instead, and says so.

Weigh it, then explain it.
Another layer weighs the signals with your context. Confidence is calculated, not guessed, and a final check keeps the wording plain and true to the evidence.

Confidence should fall when the evidence gets weaker.
FaunaVera is designed to say how sure it is, rather than pretend every clip has one obvious answer. Same horse, two very different clips:
Dusk, tail out of frame, wind noise
- What the clip shows
- Lighting, framing and audio decide how much there is to see and hear. Missing cues lower confidence.
- How many sources agree
- A signal described across many studies counts for more than one that appears in a single paper.
- How strong those sources are
- Replicated, peer-reviewed work on that exact species beats anecdote or evidence borrowed from another animal. Animals without their own FaunaVera ethogram are always marked as an AI interpretation, with lower confidence.
- Whether the signals agree
- When posture, face, movement and sound line up, confidence rises. When they conflict, it falls, and the interpretation says so.
